Let’s talk Spray Tan Prep!

Let’s talk prep. This is a team talk 📣 🤎✨

Sometimes I wonder why people aren’t too worried about prepping even though it’s like the most MAJOR thing about having a spray tan and you’re paying for this!

I get that I send prep advice and it might be a case of well surely if I don’t follow that then it will still be ok, so I thought it might be good to breakdown the prep.

‘’🧼Exfoliate at least 24 hours before your tan’’

In simple terms, the solution changes the top layers of your skin brown. Our skin naturally replenishes itself on a daily basis so exfoliating well will mean that I will be spraying on to new fresh skin which is likely to last longer than if you hadn’t exfoliated. If you do not exfoliate before a tan then your tan can look patchy and will definitely not last as long.

‘’🧴 Don’t have any deodorant or lotions on your skin the day of your tan’’

Firstly, all these products can cause a barrier on your skin, this means the tan may not take in areas where these are present.

Secondly, deodorant and perfume will react with the solution and show up green when I spray you, it is unlikely that you will have green patches when the solution is washed off but it is a possibility.

🪒’’Shave or wax more than 24 hours before your tan”

If you do not follow this advice then you may end up with little ‘pin prick’ dots over the area’s where the hair was removed. You may also see lines in the tan where the razor has been or the wax strips have been removed

💦’’Up your water’’

Staying Hydrated is going to be key to prolonging the life of your tan—the dryer your skin, the more it’s going to flake off and disrupt your tan

🕊️ Last but not least stay the heck away from DOVE- the products leave an invisible film on the skin sometimes days- even after scrubbing (I can’t give 💯 answer as I don’t make dove but I do know it seems to not allow the tan to penetrate properly & turns you a bit green and it’s known for making streaky tans.

hope this helps everyone to understand the importance of correct preparation, I’ll do my magic & you do yours - this is a bit of a team talk 🗣️ ✨

PS I know when clients haven’t prepped as soon as I start spraying- but the customers always right - right? 😜
